Hi, I’m Monica.

I am a soil ecologist and science policy and communication specialist.

Work & Interests

Science Policy

I am a Science Policy Coordinator for the Soils for Europe (SOLO; soils4europe.eu) working at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) in Leipzig, Germany. I collaborate with researchers across Europe to change environmental policy. For the Soil Biodiversity Observation Network (SoilBON) project, I coordinate soil sampling efforts across the globe to investigate the soil health and biota in protected & unprotected landscapes. In my personal research, investigate the interactions of soil arthropods in changing landscapes.

Research Interests

I am broadly trained in soil food web ecology, entomology, & integrative pest management. I research the effects of anthropogenic environments on communities of arthropods, especially, soil mites. My first academic career is Studio Art and I use this in my communication work in soil organisms.
